The International Cake Exploration Societé (ICES), an organization comprised of over 4500 sugar artists, cake decorators and vendors from all over the world. Our sugar art masterpieces can be as small as one exquisite gum paste rose or as large as the beautiful towering sugar sculptures you've seen on televised competitions. Whether you'd like to learn more about the sugar art craft, or if you've been teaching cake decorating for years, ICES has a place just for you.

The Virginia Chapter spreads SHARING and CARING of cake decorating through meetings, social events, cake shows and "Days of Sharing", throughout the year.

 Letter from the Rep.

  Happy New Year Everyone,

I Just wanted to give you some information that did not warrant a Newsletter.

·       We are currently planning our next VICES DOS at the end of March or Beginning of April in the Virginia Beach area.   We are trying to lock everything down and I will notify you when everything is finalized.

·       As I have mentioned in Novembers Newsletter, the ICES Scholarship program deadline is January 15th.   I hope you will take the time to apply.  Have attached the forms in this email.  Each year up to ten $1000.00 scholarships are awarded to ICES members to further their knowledge of the sugar arts.

·       ICES Hall of Fame nominations.  January 15th is the deadline to nominate someone for this prestigious award.  To nominate someone for the Hall of Fame award the member must submit the nomination on the ICES Hall of Fame Nomination Form to be valid.  This form can be found on the ICES Website or requested from the Awards Chairman.

· webpage has just completed an overdue face-lift/restructure.  You should find it more convenient to navigate.  They are currently working on correcting outstanding issues with the ICES app for IPhone/Android.  I have it download on my phone and find it quite useful, hope you will take the time and download it as well.

I have bought my ticket and ready to go to Midyear in Spokane Washington, this is the time to address and concerns or ideas for ICES.  Have put together an anonymous form on Google

Please fill out this form for me to address.

One last thing, the National Capital Area Cake Show will be held April 16rh-17, 2016.  Classes are online.  Please don’t wait to sign up for the classes you want to take.  You may not know this, but our teacher have to often fly out to our show and have hotel expenses.  If the teachers do not make their minimum number of students to offset the cost of travel, they will often cancel the class.  We are also planning a special event from Norman R. Davis.  More information will be available soon, please visit or our Facebook page to keep up with new information.

Hope I have covered everything and look forward to seeing you at the next DOS.
